Seven days back to writing fitness: a writing experiment set up to get me back in the swing of writing and to make some progress through my novel.
In this blog, I give a short update on my progress for my novel project. I’m really glad I’m back on track, or on the way to being on track.
In the spirit of the season, I write about why I find new year’s resolutions challenging (because I love a good sweeping goal), and how I’m working towards kinder, more malleable targets this year.
First Today’s the day that we celebrate youThe special man who you’ve grown to beI’ve never known you to blossom like this under all the attention Maybe this weird year’s been differentAnd you’re leaning into it because of the distance that you’ve never had between you and loved ones, while celebrating, before. I hope, my loveYouContinue reading “November Poetry – Week 1”
Despite the fact that I’ve done a lot of sitting on my butt watching mindless telly this weekend (okay, not totally mindless, and also I’ve done some exploring), I’m pretty pleased with the fact that I’m posting an update today. It’s not great, but it’s something. I feel like even if I make embarrassingly littleContinue reading “Project Songbird: Two weeks in a row!”
Another week, another book review – which when I finish, I really need to keep reading so I can keep up the review pattern (currently reading a very long book, so it’s taking me quite a while). For a change, this is not a random book I scrounged off the ground following a message onContinue reading “Book review: A.A. Milne’s Four Days Later”
So, it has really been a while… At least on the novel front. I’ve been better with my book reviews, but it’s been difficult to write over the past few weeks. Since I last did a book update, we have bought a car, been going on adventures, and I’ve been getting stuck into work inContinue reading “Project Songbird: It’s been a while…”
This has been a week of doing lots of things that weren’t writing my novel, including an online course, reading, doing some editing work, and maintaining some reasonable exercise habits. So I almost didn’t post today, because it almost isn’t worth the update, but I thought I would anyway, just to keep my wordpress streakContinue reading “Project Songbird: Week 5”
So I’ve been writing this for a little over a month, including various notes scribbled in notebooks, plot points scoped out in MS Excel, and the Scrivener project I wrote on the trial for twenty-something days before coughing up for the full version. This week, my aim was to keep it ticking over, but takeContinue reading “Project Songbird: Week 4”
Major leagues, in terms of novelist royalty. Stephen King has been outside my consideration for way too long. Like, I knew he existed, and wrote quite a lot, but I think neither of my parents were a fan of creepy stuff, so consequently, I never really saw a pile of Stephen King fiction on aContinue reading “Book review: Stephen King’s On Writing”
